Prior to having Bret Conkin of Fundfindr Media present his 5 minute and 15 minute investor presentations, we took a few minutes in class to list some of the key points that you as investors would consider along with your scorecards. Here is that list:
- fit with personal background and preferences (e.g. technology, retail, manufacturing, etc.)
- barriers to entry,IP
- clarity of idea
- do they have a proof of concept?
- strong management team
- clear milestones
- identify use of investment
- ROI of 30X (well.. something like that!)
- why should we belive the story?
- credible market research
- a track record of previous successes
- personal expertise
- contingency plans in case the main plan fails
- enthusiasm, conviction
- clear market pain and solution that addresses pain
- progress to date
- when/if more funding is needed
- amount of money we as investors have to invest
